Chandler sending three youths to national track and field competition

Three students from Chandler schools will soon travel back east to represent the state at the National Hershey Track Meet, August 5-8, 2004, in Hershey, Pa.
All three representatives from Chandler qualified in the Boys Softball Throw competition by winning their age groups. In the age 9-10 group, Travis Colby, a student at Goodman Elementary School, qualified for the National Meet with a softball toss of 156' 10". Mackenzie Handel, who attends Sanborn Elementary School, qualified in the 11-12 age group, with a throw of 203' 2". And Devin Chapman from Bogle Jr. High topped the 13-14 age group with a toss of 210'.
Overall, Chandler youths took 19 first or second place honors at the State Hershey Track Meet held in June at Tempe’s Marcos de Niza High School.
The Chandler Hershey Track Meet is presented each spring by the Recreation Division of the City’s Community Services Department.
