Arizona Foundation for Women -AFW- Names Prominent Community Leader as Chief Executive Officer
The Arizona Foundation for Women today announced the immediate appointment of prominent community leader, Nancy A. Dean, to the position of chief executive officer. The Arizona Foundation for Women is a nonprofit foundation dedicated to addressing the needs of Arizona's women and children, particularly in the areas of domestic violence and child abuse.
Dean comes to the foundation with a distinguished career in the management of nonprofit agencies and foundations that spans more than 20 years. Most recently, she served as chief operating officer for the Grand Canyon Chapter of the American Red Cross. Dean, who holds a master's degree in public administration from the University of Southern California, has also served as vice president of the Arizona State University Foundation.
"We feel Nancy's rich background brings just the right blend of skills to AFW at this point in our expansive growth," stated Hope Levin, president of the AFW board of directors. "She's a caring person known for her 'people first' customer relations, and at the same time brings a strong background in financial management. Nancy's management of the Men's Anti-Violence Network (MAN) will also benefit the focus of that AFW initiative."
"Domestic violence and child abuse are key issues for the state of Arizona," stated Dean. "I look forward to working with the board to identify programs that help prevent and solve these problems. This is an opportunity for all of us to help make a real difference in the lives of women and children in Arizona."
