August 30 Let's Talk Tempe to address importance of mid-decade census

TEMPE, Ariz. - Tempe Mayor Hugh Hallman and the Tempe City Council
welcome the public to the next taping of Let's Talk Tempe, for a
discussion of the 2005 Census Survey and its importance to the City of
Tempe. It is critical that everyone who receives a census survey this
fall completes it and returns it. The State of Arizona shares nearly $1
billion each year with Arizona cities and towns based on population and
the funds support many vitally important services in Tempe.

The mayor and council's guests will be: Jerry Hart, City of Tempe
Financial Services Manager; and Heidi Pahl, 2005 Census Survey
Coordinator with the Maricopa Association of Governments. The forum will
take place at 7:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 30, at the Pyle Adult Recreation
Center, 655 E. Southern Avenue. Bagels, coffee and juice will be served
beginning at 7 a.m.

Audience members are welcome to stay for about 10 minutes following the
taping, to be part of the "cast" of a public service announcement about
the census that will air on Tempe 11. Mayor Hallman will be taping the
TV commercial and citizens are welcome to be part of the supporting
cast. Let's Talk Tempe is taped monthly in front of an audience of
residents, business owners and other community members. It is replayed
the following month on Tempe 11.
